Healthy Nutrients Against Diabetes

LEEK, GARLIC AND ONION

These are the nutritious foods that our mothers forced us to eat when we were children! Medicine always justifies the mothers in the end, unbelievable! This specifies maternal instinct since mothers force their children to eat though they are not willing to do so. As for experts, these three vegetables not only have glucose-lowering effect but also bad cholesterol-lowering effect.

How to eat?

Overcooking these vegetables cause to decline in the nutritious ingredients in them. Therefore, it is especially recommended to steam the leeks or quickly turn upside down them in the wok. It is also possible to eat onion and garlic as uncooked.

CINNAMON

How it helps?

Cinnamon is thought to increase the secretion and effect of the insulin hormone, which lowers blood glucose.

Which cinnamon should we prefer?

Firstly, there are 2 types of cinnamon, and it should be known that the stick-shaped curved cinnamon (often seen in our country) is Ceylon, and the rough and crust-like one is Cassia. Despite being effective in patients with diabetes, the rate of nutritious ingredients in Cassia is higher than others (65-70% in Ceylon cinnamon, 85-90% in Cassia)

For which type of diabetes it is beneficial?

It is not very likely to be effective when used for Type 1 Diabetes that starts to develop at a young age and is characterized by no insulin secretion in the body.

How much should we use it?

According to medical practices, it has been stated that taking Cassia as much as 3 to 6 grams daily would help.

How to use?

In addition, the essential nature of the nutritious ingredients found in cinnamon is another issue that should be taken into account. Meanwhile, the amount of cinnamon will decrease as it cooks and boils. The best way to use is to boil the cinnamon for a short time and brew in a closed pot.

FENUGREEK SEED

Fenugreek seed is the ingredient that gives pastrami its unique (or should we say malodorous!) smell. It is thought that fenugreek seed has a multiple effect on human being. This seed, which contains plenty of fiber, delays the absorption of glucose in foods and can also prevent hyperglycemia by reducing the conversion of starchy foods to glucose. It is also possible to increase insulin secretion.

How to use?

It is recommended to put 1 teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in water, boil and then consume them 3 times a day. Caution! Fenugreek seeds not only reduce the glucose absorption, but also reduce the effect of other medication in use. Wait for 2-3 hours between taking the medications and consuming fenugreek seeds. Never forget that health is a state of physical, mental and social well-being. Therefore, as fenugreek is good for your physical health, it can be disturbing for the social environment.

ALMOND

Almond has lots of fiber in it. The glucose amount contained is quite low. It is also very healthy since it contains unsaturated fat. If consumed regularly, apart from being a glucose stabilizer, it can also be effective in suppressing the feeling of hunger before meals. It is recommended to be consumed 40-50 grams (a handful) in a day for your health. Consuming it 30-60 minutes before lunch and dinner by dividing it into three is recommended. It helps to refrain from night snacks because it will create satiety if it is consumed 2-3 hours after dinner time.

GREEN TEA

It is known that some ingredients of green tea, which are not found in the black tea as usual, both increase the satiety and, correspondingly may have positive results in patients with diabetes. Green tea may have good results if consumed 3 times a day.
