- We apply effective treatments in the areas of male infertility, female urology (urgency, urinary incontinence) and pediatric urology.
- The diagnosis and treatment of male sexual dysfunction are conducted with up-to-date approaches at our hospital. In addition, Penile Doppler ultrasonography and ESWT (extracorporeal shock wave therapy) can be performed at our clinic.
The Most Common Urologic Problems;
- Urinary tract infection
- Prostatic hyperplasia (prostate enlargement) and cancer
- Calculus (stone) in kidneys and urinary tracts
- Congenital urinary tract stricture
- Pediatric urologic diseases and circumcision
- Kidney and bladder cancer
- Erectile dysfunction
- Urinary incontinence and prolapsed bladder in women and men
Urinary Tract Infection
Urinary tract infections are much more common in women than men. One out of every two women suffers urinary tract infection for at least once at some point in their lives.
Treatment of Urinary Tract Infection
In uncomplicated cases, urinary tract infection can be easily treated with a short course of antibiotic intake.
However, in complicated cases, long-term or intravenous antibiotic treatment might be required, or if symptoms do not subside within 2-3 days, further diagnostic tests are warranted.
Prostate
What Is a Prostate?
The prostate is a gland located in the male urogenital system, which surrounds the urinary canal at the exit of the bladder and ensures the fluidity of the semen.
Prostatic Hyperplasia
Prostatic hyperplasia occurs when this gland grows within structure of the same tissue and creates a stricture in the canal.
The prostatic hyperplasia can be benign as well as a prodrome of prostate cancer. The prostatic hyperplasia that manifests itself with the following complaints:
- Urinary retention
- Weak urine flow
- Urinary incontinence or urinary frequency.
Thus, it should absolutely be evaluated by a physician.
How Is Prostatic Hyperplasia Treated?
- Medication Treatment (single or combined)
- Surgical Procedure (Bipolar or Monopolar TURP).
Prostate Cancer
What Is Prostate Cancer?
It is Possible to Treat Prostate Cancer, Men’s Nightmare, with Early Diagnosis!
The prostate cancer is manifested by abnormal and different tissue development of the secreting cells. It may spread to the adjacent tissues through lymph nodes and blood vessels if it is not diagnosed at an early stage.
Prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer in men and its symptoms cannot be identified at an early stage. Thus, every man over the age of 45 should test for a PSA test and check-up examination once a year.
Weak urine flow is an indication of benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlargement), especially in men over the age of 50. Patients should absolutely receive medical or surgical treatment before this enlargement damages bladder and kidneys.
How Is Prostate Cancer Diagnosed?
Prostate cancer may not show symptoms until later stages.
It can be detected with an increase in the PSA (hormone secreted by the prostate gland) test, which is usually identified in bloodwork, or with a prostate biopsy to be performed together with rectal examination.
Cancer cannot be diagnosed without prostate biopsy. Because infections and excessive enlargement in prostate can also cause an increase in PSA level.
How Is Prostate Cancer Treated?
- Active Follow-up
- Surgical Treatment
- Radiotherapy
- Hormone Therapy
- Chemotherapy
The most common symptoms of prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia are as follows:
- Urinary hesitancy
- Nocturia
- Dysuria
- Rarely blood in urine or semen
- Urinary urgency
Stones in Urinary System - Urolithiasis
What Is a Stone?
It is a common disease in the urinary system due to geographical conditions, genetic traits and nutritional habits of our society.
A stone develops in one out of every ten people in the society.
Men develop stones often 3 times more than women. This difference is now decreasing due to changes in lifestyle and diet.
How Does a Stone Develop?
As a result of the imbalance in the filtration of the urinary elements, stone crystals develop first. The following increase the risks of stone formation:
- Decrease in daily fluid intake
- Nutritional habits
- Genetic diseases
- Congenital urinary tract abnormalities
- Hormonal imbalance
Renal Colic
What Is Renal Colic?
Renal colic, a severely felt pain in flanks and groins, is caused by stricture of urinary tract due to stone. It may be accompanied by vomiting, blood in urine, painful urination and fever.
How Is Renal Colic Diagnosed?
The presence of the stone, whether it causes stricture or not, and its degree and level if there is one, are all detected with imaging such as ultrasonography, x-ray or tomography.
Treatment of Renal Colic
Treatment with medication and serum is administered to prevent the pain.
Urinary Incontinence
Many diseases such as urinary incontinence (stress/urge incontinence) and interstitial cystitis affect the quality of life of many people, especially women.
Treatment of Urinary Incontinence
By performing transobturator tape procedure (TOT), stress incontinence in women is treated.
Also, efforts are made to eliminate these disorders with cystoscopy interventions and medication treatments.
Diabetes and Urology
Medication-Free Treatment with No Side-Effect for Erectile Dysfunction Caused By Diabetes: ESWT!
Vascular damage secondary to diabetes can lead to physical deterioration in sexual functions. Erectile dysfunction in men is an important factor that negatively affects the quality of life.
Our Urology Department is at your service to solve this problem thanks to ESWT (low-intensity shock wave therapy).
What Is Shock Wave Therapy-ESWT?
Shock wave therapy, which does not require anesthesia, increases the patency of blood vessels with low intensity shock waves. It also allows the formation of new blood vessels and increases blood flow to the penis. It leads to the creation of new blood vessels and also the rejuvenation of the erectile tissue. Therefore, with the increase of blood flow to the penis, stronger, harder and more sustainable erection occurs.
Treatment with ESWT used in many branches of medicine is preferred in the treatments of erectile dysfunction, Peyronie's disease (solid plaques causing penile curvature and painful erection), chronic prostatitis in Urology.
If it is applied on suitable patients, 80% of men who receive shock wave therapy can have sexual intercourse without medication. In addition, approximately 90% of all men who have received this treatment report that their sexual performance has improved positively.
Why ESWT?
- It is easy to perform.
- It does not cause side effects.
- It is painless and does not require anesthesia.
- No surgical procedure is needed.
- It does not require hospitalization.
Erectile Dysfunction
Erectile dysfunction in men is the inability to initiate, maintain and continue sufficient erection for sexual intercourse.
New diagnosis and treatment methods have started to be applied and patients have also become conscious of this disease.
Permanent erectile dysfunction is rare in men under the age of 40. However, this rate gradually increases with age, and 65% of 70-year-old men suffer erectile dysfunction.
